The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner – flight test airplane ZB001 – completes its validation flight July 11th, ahead of the 2014 Farnborough International Airshow outside London – Photo: Boeing
You are probably aware that the Farnborough Airshow is going on this week. It is a time where airline manufacturers compete for orders, but also a chance to show off a little aviation porn with flying during the airshow. Typically you get to see these large aircraft flown agressively, not like you see them in the “real world.”
We just wanted to share some of the photos of the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (ZB001) taking flight over Farnborough – enjoy!

Seeing video of this 787-9 in flight is giving my current favorite airframe (77W) a run for its money…
I work at Farnborough and the 787 display is amazing!! The A.380 display is always a head turner but in 2014, we now have a duel for the best commercial display in the world! I’ve seen the 787 display 4 times now, it gets better every time
I can just see the Boeing pilots in a dog fight with any of the U.S.A.F. Red Flag or U.S.Navy Top Gun guys.
Ditto @Fred above. She is a remarkable airplane. While almost a sport of the past, does anyone besides me remember “Tray Surfing” during ferry flights in the years now long gone? An empty 789 certainly has the horsepower to enable such things. Oophs! I forgot. There are a few things that that we are no supposed to talk about… WTF, it IS fun! Seriously not smart, but also truly great fun, especially on dual-isle aircraft. (Shame on me!)
