American Airlines has unveiled what the interior of their new Boeing 777-300ER will look like when delivered. American has placed an order for 10 of the aircraft and will be the first US airline to operate them.

“American Airlines continues to remain focused on providing a differentiated customer experience through various efforts, including the execution of our fleet renewal plan,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s Chief Commercial Officer. “The addition of 777-300ER aircraft will further modernize our fleet through the integration of unique customer comforts, which are designed to create more inviting interiors and enhance the travel experience.”

The Boeing 777-300ER, which will be configured in a three class layout, will become American’s largest aircraft that they operate. Both First Class and Business will offer lie-flat seating.

American has also announced that they will use their new 777-300ER on the Dallas/Forth Worth (DFW) to Sao Paulo (GRU) starting in December of this year. American is expecting to receive two of their 777-300ERs in 2012 and the remaining eight in 2013.

Impressive business class! I like the blue (what is becoming) Boeing trademark lighting. Very Star Trekkie. Those business class seats are about the size of my office cubicle! 🙂

Pretty much the same business class currently being installed on Cathay Pacific – I have flown it with Cathay, very comfortable while sitting up and sleeping. Good show AA!

You are correct John. It’s a similar seat and setup as Cathay with different decor.

Coach looks like a downgrade in personal space from a mad dog 80.

“New and improved economy” It is 10 abreast, no way that is improved. F looks like it is only slightly better, and only worth it as an upgrade not paid, but I can’t complain about business, that looks great.

I am impressed by the new interior. Although it looks economy seats style has been changed only, not the pitch.

Call me cynical, but I like how they (and you) have downplayed the Economy class changes. as Kris says, there is NO WAY that 10 across in the back is “new and improved” over 9 across. Sure, the entertainment system may be better, as it should be because with 10-across seating, there’s no way you’ll catch any ZZs on an overnight flight. You might as well watch some movie (for the third time).

I think you, me and Kris will be able to know and possibly alter our plans before of that, but the majority of passengers will have no idea that the 777 is set up in a 10-abreast.

It is an interesting trade-off. Better interior and entertainment system or 1″ of width?

I won’t have to choose, United is where it is at.

Really like the LOOK of the F/C and Business cabins. AA is still my fAAvourite Airline and I hope they weather the ‘current storms’ facing them in BK.

Is it just me or has Business and First Class become a ‘singles only’ seating area? If you’re going on a business trip it’s great, you have your own mini-office. But, if you’re on a romantic vacation, you are way too far away from your seat-mate – you can’t even see them!

WOW! PC Power at every seat! I’ll never run low again.

It’s about time they catch up with the rest of the US international Airline industry. United Airlines (my Favorite) has had Lie Flat 180 degrees seats with big idividual screens in Business and First Class, for years now.

Try one year, United started installing lie flats in 2009 and are yet to finish installing them, so they have not had them for years, however Cathay, Singapore, Emirates have, United and Continental were the first American carriers though to install true lie flats and that is a credit to them, but their lie flats(except for continental) pale in comparison to the Asian competition.

United does not offer Lie Flat 180 degrees seats from IAD to GRU or ORD to GRU,and also some other routes. And i believe they don’t have on demand also in all flights (business and first international).
Hope they change soon.
I flew them 5 times business class, good service, but seats going to Sao paulo are NOT Lie Flat 180 degrees…

Coach class looks worse than any I have ever seen. Very tight, no legroom, very narrow aisles. The pivoting seat bottom is another huge disadvantage, it reduces your legroom when you recline. I believe Cathay Pacific has similar pivoting coach seats, and the airline is about to revamp them due to overwhelming customer complaints.
I also wonder why AA chose such an unfavorable picture for their press release. There must be more “spacious-appearing” photo perspectives, or the new coach is really really bad…

New and improved economy class? I don’t think so……
Notice how the photo carefully does NOT show that fifth seat….. Ouch!

Have AA really changed the economy seating to 3-4-3 from 2-5-2?!?! We booked our May flights last October and chose A B seats(as we do every year)specifically because I cannot cope with crowds. When will AA tell us they have changed our booking? I am very upset by this. ‘THE AIRLINE WITH MORE ROOM IN COACH—NOT ANYMORE.’

You’re traveling in May? the article states that 2 planes will be delivered in December, 2012 and will be used from DFW – Sao Paulo. They have 47 777-200 aircraft with the 3-4-3 config, so the odds are that you’ll be fine. Chill

Isn’t it the same buisness class as Cathay Pacific on their 777-300. Is it like a oneworld thing?

I will be flying first class in December from Dallas to Sao Paulo.I flew 2 years ago, same route, but not on 777-300,i flew on 777-200,what was pretty good.My only complained is the flight attendants try to be to friendly, calling you “guys”….should not be sir?And also, meals should be on demand….

Roberto

ITS ABOUT TIME WE HAVE 777ERS FOR US CARRIERS. WE MAKE THEM AND WE ARE VERY LATE TO START FLYING THEM ( BUT I AM REAL GLAD WE WILL START AND WE WILL AHEV THE NEW ONES). ALL CABINS LOOK GREAT. NOW LET THE SERVICE BEGIN!!

UAL is in the process of updating its 777 with a 3-3_3 configuration in economy and 2 power outlets in each row. Also Economy Plus, 5 extra inches of legroom occupy the first of the 2 economy cabins.

I am from garuda indonesia , we want pricelist of the mock up B 777
please , your email to rohmat ( ro***********@ga**************.com )

Thank’s

I BECAME VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED AFTER TRAVELING 777-300ER BY AA. ECONOMY CLASS…UNCOMFORTABLE, CONGESTED,NO SPACE BETWEEN SEATS EVEN KNEES TOUCH BACK OF FRONT SEAT. I SUGGEST IF SOMEONE IS THINKING TO TRAVEL 12-14 HOURS CONTINUOUSLY BY 777,BETTER TO THINK OTHER OPTION.

Muneer…….now you have made yourself look stupid…The 777-300 is not even operating in AA’s fleet yet…

Alex Kuehlen

Yes they do James, now who is looking stupid. I am scheduled to fly the B777-300 to TYO on Oct 2.

Well,,,considering his post was from oct 2014,,,ans AA did not start flying the 777-300 till Dec 2014………………..wanna recheck?

correction,,,his post was from 2012.

also,,,the 777-300 only operates LHR,GRU,HKG…………

Why not just make economy class seating a bunch of bar stools. No need to even attach then to the floor. It looks like a bar stool would not be much smaller, and at least you could pretend you were someplace nicer to be at.

Much Ado About Nothing

James, EasyJet is trying out your stool idea right now…
Don’t forget Delta has had lie flats for some time on 77L. I prefer the leather seats, at least you know someone has wiped it down at some point. I hit the lav first thing and wipe me and my kids seats down before we settle in for the 14+ hour flights…

Much Ado About Nothing

How come if I file bankruptcy I can’t buy all new stuff and upgrade everything I own. C’mon man! Right down to new dishes! They are in debt, bleeding money everyday, I hope the USAir plan of taking over AA and taking all the scarbuses and give DL all the B’s does hold true. Proven fact, no top 10 airline with an all scarebus fleet has ever maintained profitability. F9 is the poster child of that statement. HA and US will follow in their footsteps.

Alex Kuehlen

when will the airlines wake up and realize they are loosing money on the new “tight” seating arrangements? The carrier with the extra 4 or 5 inches of legroom will get the business, even if they have to charge a bit more. To divert a flight to another airport due to a passenger dispute costs the carrier more than extra revenue of 6 more seats such as fuel, landing fees, parking fees and unhappy passengers.
