Somethings answer a question never asked. But if you were sitting around this weekend thinking long and hard about how do airlines wash engines, well I have the perfect video for you. It shows how Southwest Airlines goes about washing one of the engines.

Now, this isn’t your grandfather’s jet engine washer.  This is an environmentally friendly engine washer that helps reduce waste and gas. The EcoPower equipment circulates the water to wash the engines minimizing the contaminant runoff, which is good for everyone.

Erotic Airway's Beech H-18S

Joining the mile-high club has never been easier. Formed in 2006, Erotic Airways is the brain-child of pilot Craig Justo and is based in Brisbane, Australia. They fly a twin-engine Beech H-18S and offer 45 and 60 minute flights. For about $725.00 USD you get a nice hour-long flight, first class bedding with “sensuous satin”, a little bubbly, and a complimentary “safe sex” package.

Once you land, you will get an official Mile High Sexperience Certificate, to frame and mount on your wall (you know, for when the family comes to visit).

The website is interesting, although not quite safe for work. Check it out or check out an interview on YouTube (safe for work) showing the plane and bed.

Although this airline experience might not be for everyone, it might be a unique experience for some. I couldn’t imagine the operation growing too much more than what it is now and not sure how something like this in the US would be received.

In honor of Republic getting their paws (heh) on  Frontier Airlines, I thought this video would be good for this weekend. It won a local Emmy award for one of their commercials. Head on over to Airline Biz Blog which posted the award winning commercial and also a collection of their animal tail ads.

The ads announce that now all Frontier Airline flights have leather, new(er) planes, and DirectTV…wonder if soon Midwest can advertise the same!

The Seattle PI compiled a time-lapse video showing Boeing ‘s largest commercial jet being put together. It only takes about 30 seconds to see this all-new Boeing 747-8 Freighter being put together like a puzzle. This is Boeing’s longest commercial jet at 250feet, 2inches it is over 18feet longer than the Boeing 747-400 Freighter.

Baggage Claim at PHL

Baggage Claim at PHL

The European Union (EU) is pushing to create tougher regulation over airlines and airports that damage and lose luggage.

Recently, United Airlines felt the brunt of a passenger who had his guitar broken during a flight. He was unhappy with how the airline treated him and if you agree or disagree, his video went viral and got a positive reaction from United.

Of course this strategy cannot work for everyone. The EU Commission is proposing that each EU country create an agency to monitor incidents of lost and damaged bags. An EU Commission survey shows that between November 2008 and March 2009, airlines on average lost one bag for every 64 passengers. ’œIt’s a serious problem,’ European Transport Commissioner Antonio Tajani said, ’œWe have to act.’

With airlines charging more for checked bag fees, it is frustrating that so many bags in the EU would be lost and damaged. Even though having less baggage lost would of course be better, is it worth all the extra money it would cost to have the government watch over the industry?
