July 9, 2014 - This week LAN CARGO, the largest cargo operator in South America, completed its most important transportation of horses this year, boarding 50 horses on one of its cargo flights from Miami to Madrid, in an operation carried out by Colt International USA. The Argentine Polo Ponies, which will compete in the Polo Summer Season in Sotogrande, Spain, traveled in groups of three in stalls specially built by Newport Cargo Argentina and Unicorn S.A. for LAN CARGO for this flight. They were under the care of four experts exclusively dedicated to any needs that they may have. "We are very pleased that we were chosen for the transportation of these horses. At LAN CARGO, this type of operation represents a new challenge, especially when we are dealing with such an important quantity of horses. All necessary conditions as well as our staff underwent extensive preparations and procedures to ensure that we would have a successful flight," said Cristian Ureta, CEO of LAN CARGO, affiliate of LATAM Airlines Group. Once in Madrid, LAN CARGO will count on the support from Iberia to disembark the horses. The Spanish airline has planned a special handling operation to attend to the cargo plane and aid during unloading from the plane and loading onto trucks, where the horses continued their journey until arriving at Sotogrande.
