AGF14

We are getting closer and closer to the next Aviation Geek Fest Seattle (#AGF14) and it is going to be bigger and better than ever. The dates have been locked in; February 15th and 16th 2014, which is President’s Day Weekend.

What is Aviation Geek Fest you ask? It is a two-day hootenanny of aviation goodness in Seattle. Pretty much if you are an AvGeek, you are going to LOVE it.

I just met with the Future of Flight on Friday and although we don’t have too many details at this point, we are in the process of making things happen and I think you will be happy with the results. But there are things that you can do to prepare now.

HERE IS WHAT I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT AVIATION GEEK FEST

  • It is going to be totally awesome/radical/groovy and just an all around good time
  • It will be over two days, both Saturday and Sunday
  • One day will likely be spent at Paine Field, the other down at Boeing Field (don’t know which is when yet)
  • It is going to be bigger and better than last year
  • There will be enough new stuff to make the regulars smile
  • We want to open it up to the masses (had about 200 attendees last year), but still keep it exclusive

HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREPARE FOR AVIATION GEEK FEST

  • Sign up for the AGF email list, to stay informed — any/all updates I will share to that list
  • Get your airline tickets to Seattle. If you do not like to fly, this event might not be for you
  • Look at hotels, but maybe not book yet, we are going to try to get AGF14 rates up north and south for you
  • Be prepared to have an epic #AvGeek time!

How about something at SEA? I know it’s far apart from Future of Flight, but I think it would be cool.

Something at SEA would be awesome! Something behind the scenes would be a really out-of-the-ordinary thing to do. Catering? Baggage? Who knows!

I’ve been following this website for about more than a year and I remember reading about this event this year and being insanely jealous! I am planning to attend next year, however, I’m from London. So would appreciate some tips as in where to stay and how to get about and how much is this event etc? Many thanks!

It depends… If you are very interested in airplanes and want the full package, I would recommend to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Seattle North / Everett, which is the closed neighbour to the Boeing factory/Future of Flight.

We (Me & son) visited the #AGF13 and travelled all the from Norway and we had the time of our life. Right now, we’re discussing if we should do this once more. So, if you have time to spend, just do it… 🙂

I can’t wait to hear all about it. If only my schedule fell better. I will convince my wife to let me go one of these years.

David, I can’t wait to see you there at #AGF14!

A full motion simulator would certainly be awesome but i’ve enjoyed each year so whatever you come up with will be fun!

Kevin, all the simulators earlier this year moved from their Puget Sound location down to Miami. You’ll have to hope there’s some type of Aviation Geek Fest Miami in order to ride on those.

You can’t get a much better endorsement for this event when someone travels all the way from Norway this year, and wants to attend again in 2014. That speaks volumes to how great Aviation Geek Fest is.

Hopefully the Paine Field day is on Sunday. Why you may ask? Because if it is, I’ll be organizing an #avgeek brunch at Bob’s Burger & Brew by the Everett Mall at 9am. We had over a dozen #avgeeks last year attend the first brunch and we’re hoping to fill out the restaurant this year with more promotion. Bob’s Sunday brunch is fantastic. Hope to see you there!

I’m hoping to attend as well. I’ve been wanting to take a trip out there but to have an event like this planned(just found out about it a month or so ago)would make it even better. I keep checking flights, the hotel info is excellent. Should I plan on renting a car or is there ground transportation provided?

Really thinking of driving up from Oregon for this. Sounds like a great time and easy weekend trip.

Hope this is a go! I just booked air tix! 🙂

I’m in! Pretty stoked to geek out with fellow avgeeks.

Guys, I am in.. Coming from Maryland. never been to the area so can’t wait!

I wanted to come to AGF13 but couldn’t get off work. Making plans for #14 which will be my first. Born and raised in Seattle and left 7 yrs ago…time to come “home” and meet my fellow geeks! Pretty excited about this!

Just bought my SW tickets…WOOT. I’m on my way to my first Av Geekfest!

This is an option some folks might be interested in. I did this a few years ago on a visit to Boeing Field. Understand it is weather permitting. http://www.oldethymeaviation.com/

Disappointed that the Northwest Scale Modelers Show will NOT be the same weekend as Aviation Geek Fest 2014. Hopefully that will change in 2015.

There is a neat event on Sunday the 16th at the Museum of Flight.

Here’s a great topic of conversation about the “possible” future of Paine Field.

Hi, I am from Australia and will be in the USA at the time of the Geekfest. Do you need to get tickets to attend this event? If so how do you get them or what is the way you sign up? I would hate the turn up and not be allowed to participate. Any help would be appreciated as I need to book tickets and accommodation very very soon. Thanks for any help you can give. Hopefully see you at the Geekfest!!

Philip – Yes, you will need a ticket. A lot of us have been wondering when they’ll be available. Dave just tweeted an update saying that he has a meeting tomorrow about it: https://twitter.com/AirlineReporter/status/421821780559278080 Experience from previous years shows that Dave, Sandy and everyone else who puts this together have a lot of stuff to do. (And we should remember that AGF is not their day job.) It’s “situation normal” for all of us to be getting a bit antsy for details by the time they’re finally posted. Keep paying close attention – when the time is announced that tickets will go on sale, you’ll have to be ready. They can sell out in a matter of minutes. Though some turn up available again periodically as order forms time out or people cancel.

I look forward to meeting all of you (or seeing you again) there.

Philip McKenzie

Thanks Ian for the update, very much appreciate the information and the guys who work to put this all together. I’d better wait and see if I can get a ticket before changing my international flights. Fingers crossed that it all works out. Thanks again for the update and hope to meet up at the fest!

Philip, Sandy here from Future of Flight. We will make sure you get tickets if you are coming all the way from Australia!

Same for me from montreal…..

Philip McKenzie

Sandy, thanks for the confirmation. I will finalise the bookings today. Look forward to seeing
you on the 15th/16th. Very much appreciate your support and the work by everyone organising the event.

Philip McKenzie

Flights booked, hotel and car next. See you all soon.

Does this event travel, or is it always in Seattle?

Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wished to
say that I’ve truly enjoyed surfing around your blog posts.
After all I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!
