TSA Grounds 9 Planes (but not for the reasons you might think)

americaneagle_08-19-08-thumb-400x267You might think because TSA grounded nine planes they must have some threat to our national security. Or maybe they found them to be unsafe to fly. Nope. It is because the TSA agents doing a security check used some control sensors to help themselves onto the planes — breaking them.

“Our inspector was following routine procedure for securing the aircraft that were on the tarmac,” Elio Montenegro, a TSA official, told ABCNews.com.

What I don’t get is if these are supposed to be security experts inspecting an aircraft, shouldn’t they know what the parts on an aircraft do? If they can’t even know what parts are critical (and not handholds) how can we trust that anything they are looking at is worthwhile? And not to mention this happened not to one or two planes, but nine.

Bag Fees are no more — for a select few

american_08-13-08-thumb-300x199If you are looking to save a few bucks on the baggage fees, join the Army! Well really it is for a third piece of luggage since the 1st and 2nd were already free. Not only does this help those soldiers with extra baggage, but it also helps the tax payers since the government would reimburse the soldiers anyhow!

Pilots say AOK to Delta/Northwest merger

nwdelta_08-12-08-thumb-300x199About 62% of Delta pilots and 87% of Northwest Airline pilots supported the accord for the merger of the two airlines. The Northwest pilots most likely had a higher percentage due to the fact that they are not able to negotiate their current contract until 2011 due to Northwest’s bankruptcy and Delta pilots are currently paid better.

The process of merging pilots of two airlines can be complex. The airlines must merge the seniority lists, and figure which planes pilots will fly.
